i think, in a way, we’re all robots of some kind
we get stuck in a routine, living the same day over
and over
and over
again
stuck in our heads
stuck in the little screen we hold in our hands
continuously searching for that video that will be stimulating enough to put it down
and look up
our minds crave stimulation, they crave that spark of dopamine that you get for that 5 seconds you just spent watching that video
and you scroll
thinking “just one more video”
one more minute
one more hour
stuck in a compact lit-up rectangle in a dark room with your airpods in barely even aware that you’re there because you’ve been sucked into this void of fake happiness and fantasies and how many likes you got on your last post and if you can beat this game and if he’s texted me back yet and keeping our snap streaks and watching tiktoks and reels and craving that short term spark of dopamine
and it’s never good enough
because it never was supposed to be
Dang

“because it never was supposed to be”
so true, humans need to find dopamine through hard work and real relationships with other humans.
